2010-2011 Leadership

The Junior League of Atlanta Board of Directors ensures the future of the entire organization at all levels. Board members act as trustees and stewards on behalf of our members, including financial management of the League. The Board also provides vision and helps govern the vision across our multiple Council systems – which includes Community Placements, Community Outreach, Fund Development, Training and Development, Membership, Marketing & Communications, and the Advisory Planning and League Initiative Committees. The Board also makes sure that all our League programs are consistent with our mission and that our strategy is pushed forward according to yearly strategic priorities.

The Value of the Junior League of Atlanta as Voiced by our Community Advisory Board Members
The Atlanta Women's Foundation
“I have over 10 years experience working in the non-profit sector serving women and girls (as CEO YWCA of Metropolitan Dallas and CEO of the Atlanta Women’s Foundation). Throughout my tenure, I have witnessed the significant benefit the JLA provides to its communities - both through its leadership training and its active community service and support. Many of the women who have gone on to become the most highly evolved leaders, philanthropists and community advocates have done so because they began their community service with the JLA. Personally, the best board members I have ever worked with were all JLA members. And, when I ran a program organization, we received the direct benefit of JLA’s financial and volunteer support… a significant benefit to my organization and my programs.”
— Barbara Mosacchio, CEO, The Atlanta Women's Foundation
United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta
"As president of United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta, I work at the intersection of need and means—sandwiched between poverty and wealth. On any given day, I dine with CEOs of major corporations, foundation officials and government leaders, and talk with women and their children in homeless shelters. Although their life’s positions are drastically different, the irony is that these people are more alike than not.
Each takes pride in their community. They want the best for their families, and they believe deeply in the power of giving back. The women of the Junior League of Atlanta also work where poverty and wealth meet. They are one of metro Atlanta’s best examples of the unselfish investment of time, talent and treasure to make our community better and stronger.
For more than 90 years, Junior League of Atlanta has been a staple of hope and inspiration for all sectors of our community. Similarly to my work as president of United Way, you bring the stories of those in need to those with the means to help, and by doing so, you enrich the lives of everyone. As leaders, you rally together to help and to galvanize the community in your efforts. In an intimate way, you are making metro Atlanta a place where all individuals and families thrive—a place I am proud to call home.
Thank you for your 90-plus years of successful hard work and continued dedication to helping those less fortunate and for grooming our next generation of civic and philanthropic leaders."
— Milton Little, President, The United Way of Metropolitan of Atlanta
