2010 - 2011 President's Message

President's Message

Welcome to the Junior League of Atlanta! We have transformed the Atlanta community by building capacity within our partners, developing sustainable initiatives dedicated to issues that were underserved in our community and training our members to become powerful advocates for issues affecting women and children. Whether it is having the vision to create the Atlanta Speech School and the Atlanta Children’s Shelter, the compassion to help women and children in crisis, the dedication to volunteer in our community for 50 hours each year or the enthusiasm to learn new skills and develop leadership talents, Junior League of Atlanta women are making a difference across the Atlanta community every day.

The Junior League of Atlanta has a rich heritage of defining important issues impacting the community and developing systems to effect change. Right now, the JLA continues this legacy through our work with early childhood education, and by May 2011, we will announce the framework for our gift to the community in 2016 that will impact Atlanta’s children and transform our community. This year, we will also continue our legacy of training women leaders by promoting our training opportunities and streamlining our efforts to develop relevant training that our members can use in their JLA careers and beyond. And, we will work to be stewards of our resources by using our IT infrastructure and facilities to their most efficient potential. All of these goals are achievable through the collective action of our members.

In 2011, we celebrate 95 years of service to the Atlanta community. Throughout the year, we will look back on our accomplishments and look forward to our future. Each member has a legacy of leadership and service – what is the legacy you want to leave? Use your legacy to help define ways you can make a difference.

Whether you’re a new member, active, sustainer, community partner, potential member or supporting family member, or friend – thank you for your interest in the League and commitment to our mission.

Cheers,

Audra Dial
2010-2011 Junior League of Atlanta President
