Building a Better Community Week
In response to the tragedies of 9/11, JLA started its “Building a Better Community” events. It is a focus on building a stronger community and adding more quality to life. Specifically, as we strive to build a better community, we look for projects that help us improve the community in an impactful way while bringing together members of the community to affect that change and educate the community on the impact of collective action. Below are our projects for 2012- 2013. The projects for the 2013-2014 League year will be listed on this page soon.
Tuesday, September 6 - Bingo Night at Genesis Shelter from 6-8. 15 volunteers are needed.
Wednesday, September 7 - "Shaping up the Shelves" at various library locations from 6-8 p.m. Approximately 6 volunteers will be needed at each location. Locations are as follows: Buckhead, Sandy Springs, Roswell, Northside, Southwest, Ponce de Leon
Thursday, September 8 - Kids in the Kitchen at Agape Community Center from 3-5 p.m. 10 volunteers are needed.
Saturday, September 10 - House painting at Ronald McDonald House - Scottish Rite from 9 a.m. to noon (6-8 volunteers are needed); Community garden at Whitefoord Community Center from 9 a.m. to noon. *Approximately10 volunteers (subject to change).
