Kids in the Kitchen
The goal of the Junior Leagues' Kids in the Kitchen initiative, which is supported by The Association of Junior Leagues International Inc. and its member Leagues, is to empower youth to make healthy lifestyle choices and help reverse the growth of childhood obesity and its associated health issues.
Over 255 Leagues in Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom and the United States conducted the Junior Leagues' Kids in the Kitchen program in their communities in 2007.
In addition to teaching children about healthy eating the 2013-2014 year Kids in the Kitchen program will be partnering with Journey to Literacy at local libraries with hands on learning about healthy eating and preparing a wholesome snack. Some upcoming events where you can see Kids in the Kitchen in the community is October 27 at the Atlanta Botanical Gardens. We would love to see you, come out and learn about and make healthy Halloween treats! Click here for a few Healthy Halloween tips in advance!
We would like to thank Belk at Phipps Plaza for having us at their back to school Kids Fest! We had a great time demonstrating healthy packed lunches with conventional and nonconventional packed lunch options, as well as letting families season popcorn with out the use of butter and salt.
