Theisen Consulting is a national management consulting firm providing strategic counsel and consulting services to nonprofit organizations, academic institutions, grantmaking foundations, coalitions and collaboratives, and government agencies throughout the United States. Theisen Consulting has deep experience with strategic and tactical planning, group facilitation and decision-making, board development and effectiveness, leadership transitions, change management processes, organizational assessments, benchmarking studies, and environmental scans/market research. Theisen Consulting brings an evidence-based mindset and a culture of utilizing data, facts, curiosity, and openness in our work with people and their organizations.
The firm has worked in a variety of fields but has particular expertise in public health, education, human services, and nonprofit management and governance.
Prior to founding Theisen Consulting in 2001, Terri served as an executive leader in nonprofit organizations for more than 20 years. She served as CEO of a regional nonprofit; as vice president of two large national nonprofits where she had responsibility for the field operation of more than 30 affiliates; and as an internal management consultant in a large national nonprofit organization. Throughout her career, she held various professional staff positions in program management, public policy, and operations management.
Terri is a past board member of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, the National Psoriasis Foundation (where she served as Treasurer,) Hands On Atlanta (with service as Chair,) and the Women United Leadership Council of United Way Worldwide. Terri is an active alumna of Leadership Atlanta and a graduate of the Diversity Leadership Academy.
Terri received the United Way of Greater Atlanta’s Leading a Life of Purpose Award in 2018 and is a frequent speaker at conferences and professional convenings, including the Council on Foundations, the BoardSource Leadership Forum, Grantmakers in the Arts, the Georgia Society of CPAs, State Bar of Georgia, and the Council of Volunteer Administrators. She has been interviewed by numerous nonprofit industry publications and is the author of two books: Nonprofit Business Plan Development: From Vision, Mission, and Values to Implementation, and Succession Planning for Nonprofit Leadership: Steps to Ensuring Your Organization’s Future.
